The Time after Epiphany / Ordinary Time – Liturgy – 60.1

These liturgical texts are appropriate for use throughout the Time after Epiphany and may be repeated from week to week.

Confession and Pardon

Let us confess our sin together with trust and humility.

God among us,
forgive us when we assume you are far from us
and when we fail to recognize our part
in your ongoing ministry.
We grieve for all the wounds not healed,
actions not taken,
and calls not answered.
Teach us to remember our baptism,
to hear your call,
to participate in your mission,
and to help those in our midst.
Transform us,
that we may be more like Christ.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

God is among us!
We have been baptized into Christ,
who is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
In Christ, we are forgiven. Amen!

Thanksgiving for Baptism

At the baptismal font:

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

O Lord our God, we give you thanks
for the faith, hope, and love you give to us
through the blessing of our baptism—
claiming us as your beloved children,
calling us to the path of discipleship,
revealing to us the light of your glory.
By the power of your Holy Spirit,
poured out upon us in baptism,
help us to follow you with faith,
to trust in you with hope,
and to serve you with love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Great Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God:
We give you all thanks and praise, O God,
for your works are great
and your righteousness endures forever.
You have given us your covenant of steadfast love;
holy is your name.

The Sanctus may be sung or spoken:

With angels, saints, and all creation,
we join the hymn that never ends:
Holy, holy, holy Lord . . .

Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior:
He came to us teaching with authority
and showing us your will for our lives.
Even unclean spirits knew his voice and listened to him.
He calls us still to share his words of love with the world.

The Words of Institution may be spoken here or after the prayer.

Remembering your goodness and grace,
we offer ourselves to you with gratitude
as we share this joyful feast.

A memorial acclamation may be sung or spoken:

Great is the mystery of faith . . .

Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us
and upon this bread and cup;
make us one in the body and blood
of Jesus Christ our Lord.

If prayers of intercession are not included elsewhere in the service, brief petitions may be offered here by the presider or the assembly, spoken aloud or prayed in silence. You may choose to incorporate petitions from the weekly prayers of intercession offered in this edition.

Hear our prayers for the world you love . . .

Through your Spirit we are fed with spiritual food,
a mystery we proclaim with our lives:
This bread is Christ’s body for us,
and we are the body of Christ.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ,
in the unity of the Spirit,
we bless you, God of glory,
now and forever.

The great Amen may be sung or spoken.

Blessing and Charge

At the doors of the church:

Beloved children of God,
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,
the grace of Jesus Christ,
and the blessing of the Lord forever. Alleluia!
As Jesus called the first disciples,
so he calls to us this day:
Follow me. Amen.
