Call to Worship
We are children of the covenant.
Lord, have mercy on us.
The covenant life is not exclusive.
Lord, have mercy on us.
The covenant life demands faith.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Prayer of the Day
The ever-present power of your grace in our lives
will never cease to amaze us!
It lifts us from our doubts and worries,
saves us from our despair.
You see us as your beloved creation.
We are in awe of your steadfast hope in the sacred purpose of our lives.
It is your belief in us that fuels our faith in you.
Oh, what a joy divine
to be found in your glory,
and we respond, “Lift every voice and sing!” Amen.

Thanksgiving For Baptism
At the baptismal font:
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
O Lord our God, we give you thanks
for the mercy you so freely offer us
through the grace of our baptism—
safe passage through the sea,
justice rolling down like water,
deliverance from sin and death forever.
By the power of your Holy Spirit,
poured out upon us in baptism,
teach us to love and serve you faithfully
and reconcile us to you and to one another
as members of one, living body;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession and Pardon
At the baptismal font:
In the name of Christ, I urge you:
Be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.
O God, you have made us your covenant people,
marked us as your own, and charged us for lives of service.
Forgive us when we live as if success were the worthiest aim
or independence the highest virtue.
Call us once more to take up our crosses,
and show us how to follow you.
Forgive us, O God, and wash us in your mercy.
Forgive us, O God, and free us to try again.
Lifting water from the font:
Listen, the time has come at last.
Look, now is the day of salvation!
2 Corinthians 6:2
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
Thanks be to God.

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Scripture
Before the readings:
O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
Psalm 51:15
After the readings:
We proclaim Christ crucified—
the wisdom and power of God.
Thanks be to God.

Affirmation of Faith
Season of Lent
The reconciling work of Jesus
was the supreme crisis in the life of humankind.
His cross and resurrection become personal crisis
and present hope for women and men
when the gospel is proclaimed and believed.
In this experience,
the Spirit brings God’s forgiveness to all,
moves people to respond in faith,
repentance, and obedience,
and initiates the new life in Christ.
Adapted from the Confession of 1967, 9.21
Prayers of Intercession
Promise-keeping God,
in company with Abraham, Sarah,
and all the saints, we glorify your name.
Do not hide your face from us,
but hear us as we pray.
We pray those who struggle with faith . . .
Help them to hope against hope
and put their trust in you.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for the church . . .
Cause those who claim to follow Jesus
to reflect his sacrificial love for all.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for those in authority . . .
Show them how to put the good of all
ahead of clan and party.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for refugees and immigrants,
for children who live in fear,
and for parents who long for safety . . .
Open our eyes to see ourselves in them,
and teach us true compassion.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for those who suffer
in body, mind, or spirit . . .
May they feel your healing presence.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for ourselves
in the shadow of the cross . . .
Help us not to be ashamed
of the One who calls us to follow him.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Promise-keeping God,
your steadfast love endures forever.
To you be glory,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Invitation to Offering
At the communion table:
Jesus says: Where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also.
Let us offer our lives to the Lord.
Matthew 6:21
Prayer of Dedication
At the communion table:
You have shown us, O God,
the sacrifice that you desire.
Now use these gifts—
and use our lives—
to liberate the oppressed,
to break the bonds of injustice,
to feed the hungry,
welcome the poor,
and unite the human family;
all in the name and for the sake
of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Isaiah 58:6–7
Great Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Blessed are you, O Lord our God:
You made a covenant with our ancestors Abraham and Sarah,
calling us to walk before you and be faithful to you
and promising to make us a blessing to the peoples of the world.
Therefore we praise you, joining the song
of the universal church and the heavenly choir:
A Sanctus (“Holy, holy, holy”) is sung.
Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior:
For the salvation of the world, Christ underwent great suffering,
calling each of us to take up our cross and follow him,
offering our very lives for the sake of the gospel.
The words of institution are included here.
Remembering your goodness and grace,
we offer ourselves to you with gratitude
as we share this joyful feast.
A Memorial Acclamation (e.g., “Christ has died”) is sung.
Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us
and upon this bread and cup;
make us one in the body and blood
of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Give us the gift of faith in Jesus Christ
so that we may trust in your gracious promise
and receive the inheritance of everlasting life.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ,
in the unity of the Spirit,
we bless you, God of glory,
now and forever.
An Amen is sung.
